Week 3

  • Start a new blog post titled Life after Presidency. Go to http://www.wikipedia.com/ and type in your president's name in the search box on the left side. Find 2 significant events that have occurred after your president was the current president. Post your findings to the post Life after Presidency. Question: Do you think that your president has continued to help better the U.S. after his presidency, why or why not?

  • This week you will get to pick 3 out 6 optional activities to complete.
  1. Make a blog post titled Fun Facts. Find 10 fun or unusual things about your president. Post your findings to your blog.
  2. Make a blog post titled President Comic Strip. Open up Comic Life from your computer desktop. Make a one page comic with at least 5 pictures of your president's life. Add text to describe your president's life. You can use the pictures you have already found or new ones in your comic strip. E-mail your comic strip to AshErJen@gmail.com and title the subject Comic Strip. Write 2 sentences describing your comic strip in your blog post.
  3. Make a blog post titled Letter to the President. Write a one paragraph letter to your president about a decision he made during his presidency and why or why not you agree or disagree with it.
  4. Make a blog post titled If I were President. Use one of the digital video cameras in class to record a video that is no shorter than 30 seconds of yourself pretending to give a presidential speech about an issue you find important. Upload your video to your laptop and save it to your computer desktop. Add the video to your blog post by clicking the button "add video."
  5. Make a blog post titled President Portrait. Draw a colored picture of your president in class and then use one of the classroom scanners to scan it onto the computer. Save the file on your computer's desktop and then add it to your blog post. Write two sentences describing your picture.
  6. Make a blog post titled Campaign Poster. Open up Microsoft Word from your desktop. Make a campaign poster as if you were running for president in the next election that includes 2 pictures of yourself (take these on our classroom digital camera and upload them onto your laptop) and make a catchy slogan. Be sure to list the topics that you stand for and why you would be the best president. Add colorful text, clip art, different fonts, and be creative! Once you have finished your poster, save the file to your computer desktop and e-mail it to AshErJen@gmail.com. Title the subject Campaign Poster. In your blog post write two sentences describing your poster.

Week 3 Goals:

  1. Research your president's life after presidency and post your information to a blog post titled Life After Presidency.
  2. Complete 3 out of the 6 activities listed and post them to your blog under the blog post title given. (Fun Facts, President Comic Strip, Letter to the President, If I were President, President Portrait, Campaign Poster)
