Week 2

After you have done some research about your president's life before presidency, make a blog post titled Road to the White House and follow the instructions below.

  1. Now, open up the Google Earth application on your desktop. Once you have opened Google Earth look at the top of the screen and click on "Add" then scroll down in that window and click "folder." Title your new folder Road to the White House.
  2. In the search box, search for the birth place of your president. Once Google Earth has zoomed in to this place, add a place mark. Look towards the top of the Google Earth screen and click on the yellow thumb tack to add a place mark. Title your place mark the city and state where your president was born. In the description box, write two sentences about when and where the president was born.
  3. Next, locate the colleges that your president attended on Google Earth. Once you have found them, mark them with a place mark and title each the name of the school and location. In the description box write two sentences about the school your president attended and what he studied.
  4. Your last place mark should be placed at the White House. In the description box write two sentences about the length of presidency.
  5. Save your Google Earth .kmz file to your computer desktop.

Once your Google Earth tour has been completed,

  1. attach the Google Earth .kmz file that you saved on your computer desktop to an e-mail. The subject of your e-mail should be Google Earth. E-mail the file to AshErJen@gmail.com.
  2. On your blog post Road to the White house write three sentences about your Google Earth tour. Question: Was the road to the white house long for your president? Would you like to visit any of the places that your president has been to?

Now, make a new blog post titled Pictures.

  1. Search on http://www.google.com/ or http://www.yahoo.com/ and find at least 10 pictures of your president (him as a child, his family, etc.).
  2. Right click on each picture you find and save it to your computer desktop.
  3. To add a picture to your blog post, click the "add image" button and browse for the pictures on your desktop.
  4. Underneath each picture give a short description of the picture.

Begin a new blog post titled Life as the President.

  1. Next you can start researching about your president's life as the president. Find his dates of office, 5-7 significant achievements, the presidents who proceeded and succeeded him, his vice president, his first lady, and his political party.

Week 2 Goals:

  1. Make a Google Earth tour and then make a blog post titled Road to the White House (don't forget to e-mail your .kmz file to AshErJen@gmail.com)
  2. Find 10 pictures of your president's life and make a blog post titled Pictures where you can post your pictures to.
  3. Research your president's life while he was the current president and post your information to a blog post titled Life as the President.
